2. Aims of the Course:

Digital Signal Processing (DSP) continues to play a major role in diverse areas of science and engineering including telecommunication, digital media, biomedicine and digital instrumentation. Digital Signal Processors have grown tremendously in recent years, not only in their popularity, but also in their complexity. This complexity demands a new type of signal processor designer that can easily cross the border between hardware design and software design. The purpose of this course is to introduce senior students to the principles and applications of DSP and the design of DSP processors. This course covers discrete-time signals and systems, transforms, digital signal processors design, DFT and FFT processors, hardware implementation of discrete systems, digital filters design.

3. Short Description:

This course is of 7 chapters divided into 15 weeks. The student should be aware of the importance of revising the material synchronously with the lectures.

7. Statement of Plagiarism:

Plagiarism is defined as the unauthorized use of the work of another person, as one’s own, whether or not such work has been published. A student at Dhofar University shall not engage in plagiarism nor employ nor seek to employ any other unfair means for an examination or in other form of work submitted for assessment as part of any university course. The instructor, at the beginning of the semester, shall explain to students the meaning of the term “plagiarism” and the consequences of committing such an act. Furthermore, the course syllabus shall state explicitly that any form of plagiarism may mean failure for the entire course. Any person accused of plagiarism shall be referred to the College Administrative Committee in the course of which the violation occurred for appropriate action.
